Da Silvano

Croc-Embossed Sneakers, Red

$1,200

Size 10

An absolute grail for the downtown New Yorker who knows the name: Da Silvano.

Da Silvano was the epitome of the downtown New York scene. For 41 years the Greenwich Village restaurant drew boldface names from art, fashion and entertainment, who tried to shield themselves from the paparazzi camped across the street, until it closed in 2016 (The New York Times’ obituary for founder Silvano Marchetto).

A true piece of iconic New York history, these branded sneakers were made for the restaurant by Converse, in red leather with faux-croc embossing and oversized gold-and-blue portrait badges. They are extremely hard to find: most of the restaurant’s sneaker stock was lost when the warehouse it was stored in flooded during Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

Lace-up low-top with Da Silvano branding on the sole. Comes with the original box and a vintage, authentic Da Silvano carryout bag. In phenomenal condition.
